    On 13th July 2021 the first LIFE Call for Proposals opened under the new LIFE programme 2021-2027, which comprises four sub-programmes:

    • nature & biodiversity,
    • circular economy and quality of life,
    • climate change mitigation and adaptation, and
    • the clean energy transition.

    About the LIFE programme

    The LIFE programme is the EU’s funding instrument for the environment and climate action. Created in 1992, it has co-financed thousands of projects ever since.

    The main topics of the programme are:

    • Nature and biodiversity
    • Circular economy and quality of life
    • Climate change mitigation and adaptation
    • Clean energy transition

    A Guide to LIFE

    The LIFE Team has published useful material to guide applicants through the new LIFE programme and the open calls. Applicants can find info sessions including presentation slides on all the open calls providing further insight into project ideas sought.

    You can also find additional info material on the new LIFE programme and its specific features such as evaluation criteria, type of projects and how to apply successfully.

    How To Apply

    Go to the European Commission’s funding & tender opportunities portal where you will find all LIFE Calls for proposals as well as further instructions on how to submit your application. Please remember that you can only submit proposals electronically through this portal! A tutorial to guide you through the application process is available.

    The calls for proposals, that differ from a topic to another, can be found on the Funding and Tenders page.

    The calls close on November 30th 2021 at 5pm (Brussels time).
