Introduction

Erasmus+ is a program funded by the European Union (EU) that provides opportunities for education, training, and youth development. As part of the Erasmus+ Visual Identity requirements, beneficiaries need to follow specific steps. This article provides an overview of the visual identity and logos for Erasmus+ to help ensure that beneficiaries and external organisations produce promotional materials that comply with the guidelines.

EU Flag and Acknowledgement of Support

The European Union emblem (flag) must be used, and the name of the European Union displayed in full. Moreover, for projects funded by the Erasmus+ programme alone, the preferred option is to write “Co-funded by” or “With the support of,” followed by “the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union” next to the EU flag. Here’s an example:

For projects funded by Erasmus+ ERASMUS MUNDUS and JEAN MONNET ACTIVITIES, the same format is recommended with the mention: With the support of + [programme name] of the European Union. An example follows:

Guidelines on Studies and Publications

For publications and studies produced by external organisations with support from the European Commission, a disclaimer must be added to the inner pages stating that: The European Commission’s support for the production of this publication does not constitute an endorsement of the contents, which reflect the views only of the authors, and the Commission cannot be held responsible for any use which may be made of the information contained therein.

You can find the related resources by visiting the EACEA website. You can also download the Erasmus+ Graphic Design User Guide and logo from the DG EAC website.

Conclusion

Adhering to the Erasmus+ Visual Identity guidelines is essential for beneficiaries of EU funding. It ensures consistency and proper use of the EU emblem while acknowledging the support received from the European Union.

European elections of  May 23rd – 26th 2019 are closer and closer. Do you want to have an active role in the campaign? Become an Ambassador of the elections!

More and more young people are in mobility abroad. How can they vote? Who will give them useful information? These are the main issues this project is trying to face.

“Erasmus Vote Power” and “GaragErasmus Foundation”, in a project co-financed by the European Parliament, are selecting young people who will be trained to get this role.

Who can apply?

If you are in a study or work exchange, if you are in ESC (or EVS) project, if you reside abroad, you can apply to become the Ambassador of your hosting country. Each EU Country will have just one ambassador.

What will be your role?

The idea of garagErasmus is to “engage with the Erasmus Generation to raise awareness on the upcoming elections, especially focusing on how people currently in mobility experiences abroad can cast their vote for the elections from their host countries”.

In fact, voting rules differ from country to country, so many citizens don’t know how to vote while abroad.

You will be asked to organize an informal event, in order to spread what you learned at the training and distribute the material you will get.

The training

The training event, organized by the European Parliament, will take place in Brussels, on February 8th.The aim is to make of you “the main actors in the most important event for European Democracy”. Therefore, it will:

  • – provide you with an overview of the institutional campaign for the elections;
  • – give you essential campaign skills, related to communication and advocacy approaches.

The accommodation for the event is free and you will have a travel cap of 100 euro.

  Be fast!

You can apply until January 20th 2019, so be as fast as possible, in order not to lose such a great opportunity.

To apply visit this page, where you will find more information and the application form.

Nowadays smartphones are an extension of our body: they can do so many things that it looks like impossible to live without them. But, to make smartphones work fully, we need a growing quantity of internet gigabytes.

Nowadays more and more people travel everyday, to work or for holidays and they often are abroad, or have their lives divided between their own country and another one.

Until few years ago, travelling abroad and using gigabytes (at least for a good price), or to call home without paying a fortune, were almost always 2 incompatible things.

Roam like at home

June 15th 2017 will be probably remembered as an epochal day in the EU history.  As you probably know, that day the European Union, with Roam like at home, abolished the roaming’s costs in the EU countries. As regard calls and sms there are no restrictions, and you can call and send messages, based on your national tariff. There are, instead, still limits for the data traffic.

But 2019 took some important news

Since January 1st 2019, indeed, the conditions for users became much better. The maximum price per giga, in fact, passed from 6 to 4,5€ (+ VAT tax).

What does it mean?

If you have a limited quantity of giga in your tariff, you will be able to use them abroad and, once finished, to keep on using them, paying a maximum of 4,5€ (+ VAT) per giga.

If you have a pre-payed card, offering you calls, sms and data, it works in this way:

You bought a 20€ prepayed card in your country. You move to another country and you still have 12€ on the card. The minimum quantity of data that your operator can give to you is 12/4.5 = 2.6 gigabytes.

If you have a tariff offering you a limitless quantity of giga, instead, the situation is even more interesting.

The minimum volume of gigabytes, indeed, will be calculated in this way:

volume of giga = 2 x (your tariff/4.5)

while, until 2018 it was calculated as 2 x (your tariff/6).

This means that if, for example you pay 20€ for your tariff, your limit for the data traffic in EU countries passes from at least 6,6 to at least 8,8 gigabytes. If you finish them, you will pay an over-price of, maximum, 4,5€ per giga.

How will the situation evolve?

In the next future, the maximum price per giga is expected to go down and down. In the next 3 years, in fact, it will become 3.5, 3 and finally 2.5€ in 2022.

This means that, with a tariff (with limitless giga) of 20€, at that time you will have the possibility to use at least 16 gigabytes in EU countries!

Limits

These offers are valid only for those who occasionally are out of the Country where they live or have links. To avoid violations, in order to give everybody the possibility to get the service, providers will monitor the use. In general the use of data abroad should always be less than that in your home country. In case of violation, the service provider must contact  you and give you 14 days to clarify your position. It can impose some extra fees, according to maximum decided by the EU.

What do you think…?

What do you think about this policy? Did it give you any advantage? Is there any point that, in your opinion, should be improved?

Tell us in a comment below.

The EU – CoE youth partnership, in co-operation with in co-operation with the Office of the Republic of Slovenia for Youth, with SALTO SEE Resource Centre and with the Regional Youth Cooperation Office (RYCO) organises on 13 to 15 November a peer-learning seminar on youth work. This is as an opportunity to deepen the discussion on the state of youth work in the region and to promote a wide range of European support instruments, mechanisms and tools.

Building on developments in the region, the activity aims to make a contribution to strengthening youth work in the region, by analysing its state of play and identifying the support needed from youth work policy, and in turn will consider the crucial role that youth work can play in supporting youth policy at different levels.

The seminar objectives are:
  • to strengthen the knowledge about youth work in South East Europe;
  • to explore current challenges and needs that youth work as a field has in SEE and how youth policy can respond to them, at different levels, through frameworks, capacity building, and support tools;
  • to enhance synergies between different relevant actors in the region for the development of the youth work sector;
  • to analyse the crucial role that youth work can play in supporting youth policy at different levels.

The event will gather up to 50 participants, representing the triangle of youth work practice, policy and research.

Background information

Increasing knowledge and supporting the development of youth work and youth policy in SEE has been for several years one of the objectives of the EU-CoE youth partnership. In this framework, the EU-CoE youth partnership organised in 2016 the peer-learning seminar ‘Getting Across’, which brought together 55 participants involved in youth policy and youth work, particularly in the Western Balkans. The event reaffirmed the role of youth work in supporting young people in exclusion situations and generated guidelines for increasing the quality and impact of cross-sectoral youth policies and youth services.

From 2017 onwards, EU-CoE youth partnership has carried out a research project on the educational paths of youth workers, which aims to collect data and analyse the formal and non-formal education paths and career steps of youth workers, as contribution to the quality development in the youth work field.

Moreover, youth work is today very prominent in the priorities and processes of the Council of Europe and of the European Commission.

Slovenia, furthermore, has established, over the years, a strong youth sector and a well-developed cooperation within South-East Europe in different policy areas affecting youth, while its Office for Youth has been fond of deepening regional cooperation in the field of youth, contributing to the implementation of the Council of Europe Recommendation on youth work.

According to Eurostat, EU is mostly on track. Research & development and poverty alleviation lagging behind.

The Europe 2020 strategy, adopted by the European Council in June 2010, is the European Union’s agenda for jobs and growth for the current decade. As a main objective, the strategy strives to deliver high levels of employment, productivity and social cohesion in the Member States, while reducing the impact on the natural environment. To reach this objective, the EU has adopted targets to be reached by 2020 in five areas: employment, research & development (R&D), climate change & energy, education and poverty reduction.
These have been translated into national targets in order to reflect the situation and possibilities of each Member State to contribute to the common goal. A set of nine headline indicators and additional sub-indicators, compiled by Eurostat, give an overview of how close the EU is to its overall targets.

Today Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, issues the 2018 edition of the publication “Smarter, greener, more inclusive?”, which provides information on past trends and latest statistics useful to monitor the progress towards the targets of the Europe 2020 strategy.

A complete picture of trends in the Europe 2020 headline indicators

The analysis in the Eurostat publication is based on the Europe 2020 headline indicators used to monitor progress towards the strategy’s targets. Other indicators focusing on specific subgroups of society or on complementary issues are used to deepen the analysis and present a broader picture.

The publication aims to shed light on the trends in the headline indicators over the past years and helps understand the factors behind the changes observed so far. Since 2008, substantial progress has been made in the area of climate change and energy through the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. In recent years, the positive trend has however slowed down. In the area of education, the EU is within reaching distance of both headline targets. The most recent developments in R&D investment and poverty alleviation are less promising, while the EU’s employment target can be reached if the growth recorded over the past few years continues.
