From Monday 11th to Thursday 14th October 2021 the European Week of Regions and Cities runs in Brussels with a focus on cohesion policy.

It has grown to become a unique communication and networking platform, bringing together regions and cities from all over Europe, including politicians, administrators, experts and academics. Over the last 18 years, it has done much to promote policy learning and the exchange of good practice.

Due to Covid, the 2020 edition of the European Week of Regions and Cities went online, attracting more than 10.000 participants.

European Week of Regions and Cities 2021

The 2021 edition is going to be an opportunity to debate, keeping communities connected, exchanging best practices and ideas between partners and participants on four themes:

  • Cohesion;
  • Green transition;
  • Digital transition;
  • Citizens’ engagement.

The title of this edition is in fact “Together for Recovery“. It will focus on the capacity of the EU and of national and regional governments to support European citizens and their local communities with practical measures and public policies aimed at investing in a fairer, greener and more digital future for recovery.

The new generation of EU programmes for 2021-2027 will be the centre stage of this year event.

The EURegionsWeek also contributes to the ongoing debate on democracy and citizens’ engagement in the context of the Conference on the future of Europe and invites its partners to actively participate through the Multilingual Digital Platform.
