Improve your Communication Skills | Stagecraft for Youth Workers

Introduction

Are you a youth worker and want to improve your presentation, communication and project management skills?

Discover how to participate in the new training course “Stagecraft for Youth Workers“, organised by BeASILY UG, a young non-profit organisation based in Germany.

The project will take place in Germany from 21 to 29 November and will bring together 31 participants from all over Europe.

The training course

The training course will last 7 days. Through non-formal education activities aims to improve the knowledge and skills of youth workers regarding communication, presentation and facilitation skills development.

Participants will have the opportunity to share and discuss topics such as theatre, comedy, storytelling, psychology, education, music and creative community work.

The organisers will be using a dynamic approach through psychological and theatrical techniques to make the training diverse and exciting.

The aims of the project

The project aims to provide a solid foundation for youth and social workers to communicate effectively and create fun and dynamic activities.

In particular, the organisers will focus on the following goals:

To develop awareness and build on a greater understanding of the presentation, communication and engagement skills
To explore and understand the effects of effective presentation and engagement with an audience of young people and in the role of youth worker
To identify and realise the opportunities to put the skills developed into practice
To follow the recognition pathways offered through Youthpass
To explore the opportunities for realising their youth work potential through Erasmus+ and develop future collaborations

The requirements for participation

To participate in the project you must be part of one or more of the following categories:

Youth or social workers
Trainers
Youth coaches
Volunteering mentors
Educators

The organisation is looking for 31 participants from the following countries: Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Türkiye.

The conditions of the project

To participate in the training course is required a fee that will be paid upon arrival. The fee is free to choose and can range from 50 to 100 € depending on the economic availability of the participants.

Board and accommodation are covered by the Erasmus+ programme, while travel expenses from the country of origin to Germany are reimbursed.

The deadline is set for 1 October and applications submitted after this date will not be considered.

Introduction

Are you interested in improving your knowledge in marketing and communication? Are you looking for a course that allows you to acquire new skills in this field?

Discover and join the “Communication Workshop” organised by Inês Mendes, a Portuguese ESC volunteer in the association “Parcours le Monde Sud-Est”!

The workshop

The workshop will take place online on July 28 at 2 pm and It will propose different tools and strategies for communication and marketing.

There will be a theoretical and a practical part, during which participants can put into practice the notions learned during the course.

It is an extremely useful training experience for all those who wish to experience the field of marketing and communication and the participants will have the opportunity to discuss and share their experiences among young people from all over Europe.

Communication Guidelines For Project Beneficiaries

The EU-funded projects are goldmines of stories that tell how EU programmes contribute to improving society and to achieving the Commission’s political priorities. It is thus a priority to set out and implement a communication strategy to spread the word about your EU projects in the most effective way.

The project beneficiaries of Erasmus+ can now benefit from a step-by-step guide accompanying them in their “communication journey”, from their planning phase until evaluation of their communication activities’ impact.

These guidelines aim to encourage programmes’ beneficiaries to share their stories and project results with their local communities, stakeholders and EU Institutions and give access to a wide range of tools and resources to maximise project’s promotion.

Communication Guidelines For Projects’ Beneficiaries

This guide aims to support beneficiaries of Erasmus+, European Solidarity Corps and Creative Europe programmes in their communication activities.

These communication guidelines consist of five sections organised in chronological steps. Each step is explained according to the “what, why, how” methodology, which aims to show all the details of the actions you will perform.

Never Start Without Planning

EU-funded projects may have a long-term cycle, made up of different stages and different partners involved. That’s why it is important to plan your communication activities and agree upon tasks accordingly.

Create Your Visual Identity

A visual identity includes all visual elements (i.e.: logo, font, images) that can be associated with your project. It reflects your communication strategy, the context of the Programme and underpins all your communication activities.

Write Your Project’s Stories From The Beginning

Document your journey and turn your destination into a compelling read! Let your target audience know what you are up to: from your project goals and partners’ roles to activities or outputs, your project stories can inspire the public, policymakers and organisations that are active in your field.

Share Your Project Results

Communication goes beyond the activity itself, like writing news about your project or a post on social media. Communication happens when you effectively reach your target audiences and manage to engage with them. To do so, it is essential to share your stories and results through the right channels. This step is a key moment of your #CommsJourney and show how your project can make a difference!

There are many skills and abilities in which a youth worker should be equipped. One of the fundamental ones are Emotional Intelligence and Conflict Management.

Emotional Intelligence

…is the ability to identify and manage your emotions, but it is also an ability to recognize emotions in other people. It is a unique capacity, the development of which costs a lot of time and energy, and above all a large amount of self-awareness work. But it also hard to imagine working with vulnerable groups, like for example young people, without having a clue about recognizing their emotions.

Conflict Management

Another essential skill when working with youth is conflict management. Divisiveness and conflict are a normal thing and they appear in many fields of our lives, for example online, in our homes, schools and on the streets. It is fundamental for youth workers to be able to manage conflict situations.

About the project

The project ‘Get Updated: Project for Professional Development of Youth Workers’ aims at improving the capacities of youth workers in the following key areas – emotional intelligence, conflict management and communication – enhancing in this way the competencies that youth workers need to have in order to be able to adequately respond to the needs and interests of young people and fully support their development and active participation in the society.

The result of the project is the booklet ‘Emotional intelligence and conflict management’. It contains some experiencing methods and techniques to increase competencies in the areas of emotional intelligence, conflict management, and communication.
