Introduction

Diversity and inclusion are crucial aspects of any organisation, including National Agencies. To assess the inclusion and diversity efforts of your National Agency, a new tool called the ID Temperature Check has been introduced. The tool includes a set of questionnaires that evaluate the progress of National Agencies in five key areas, including ID strategy, communication, programs and supportive approach, trainings and events, and organisational development. In this article, we will see the ID Temperature Check Tool in more detail.

ID Temperature Check: 5 key areas

  • ID Strategy: assess the comprehensiveness of your Inclusion and Diversity Strategy using a downloadable or online questionnaire.
  • Communication: evaluate the inclusion and diversity approach of your communication team, materials, and channels. Use this downloadable or online questionnaire.
  • Programmes and supportive approach: assess the application of inclusion and diversity in your programs. Here’s the online questionnaire and the PDF version.
  • Trainings & events: evaluate the design and implementation of your trainings and events regarding inclusion and diversity. You can use the PDF questionnaire here, or access the online version.
  • Organisational development: this assessment can provide valuable insight into how your organisation can improve in the area of inclusion and diversity. Download or access the online questionnaire.

Once you finish answering each online questionnaire, the system will automatically generate a report and send it to you via email. This report will provide you with a bunch of resources and best practices to help your National Agency keep improving its inclusion and diversity efforts in the areas that were evaluated.

Conclusion

The ID Temperature Check Tool is a valuable resource for National Agencies to assess their inclusion and diversity efforts. This tool can contribute to creating more inclusive and diverse National Agencies, which is crucial for building a better society.

The European Commission has announced the selected 145 projects in 2022 for Erasmus+ funding to promote capacity building in higher education.

Capacity Building in Higher Education

These projects are based on multilateral partnerships between organisations – usually higher education institutions – from the EU, European countries associated to the programme, and from other countries or regions around the world.

Together these partnerships design new university courses and teaching modules, train staff or develop internationalisation and governance in partner countries.

The impact of these projects is often wider than the scope of their action – they increase cooperation with the EU and promote intercultural awareness. They make a wider contribution to development by boosting academic disciplines that are important for the development of the partner countries involved.

145 Projects Selected

The 145 Erasmus+ capacity building for higher education projects recommended for funding provide good examples of

  1.  it’s not all about student mobility – the programme also funds international cooperation projects
  2. Erasmus+ fosters cooperation with countries all over the world

The final decision on these proposals is subject to the completion of the grant award procedure in line with the timeline indicated in the call for proposals and will be published on the Funding & Tender Opportunities Portal.

Apply for the Next Round

Interested in applying? The 2023 calls will open in mid-November. Check the Funding and Tenders Portal to apply.

You can read more about Erasmus+ capacity building for higher education projects from before 2022 and their results on the Erasmus+ project results platform.

What is Emergency Pedagogy and how to use it in work with young people?

Millions of youngsters experience situations that often leave them severely traumatized and alone. Natural disasters, wars, violence claim numerous victims every day. Unprocessed trauma may disturb the natural development of young people.

The project “From Crisis to Chance – training course on emergency pedagogy” was born from the need to equip youth workers with more skills to work with youngsters that are at-risk of developing post-stress disorders in order. The objective of this Training Course was to help youth workers to cope and integrate these experiences in their biography so that their natural development would not be disturbed.

One of the outcomes from this Capacity Building Training Course organized by Spin Association in Lisbon is this BROCHURE. You can find there indications on how the youth workers can apply Emergency Pedagogy in their daily work with children and youngsters at-risk of developing post-stress disorders.

Call for participants in a Capacity building activity implemented by the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe. The call refers to young people already working as leaders in organisations dealing with diaspora communities across Europe.

The aim of the project

The call aims at promoting global citizenship and strengthening the active citizenship’s skills of youth diaspora. Not only they should be recognized, but they must also have the possibility to contribute to the peace-building process in Europe and to create a more inclusive society.

Its specific objectives are:

  • to provide knowledge and competences on Global Education;
  • to map successful initiatives and policiesthat address diaspora youth’ needs and challenges;
  • to strengthen the capacity of the participants to better understand structures, mechanisms and strategies of advocacy and decision/policy making at local, national and international level;
  • to promote the use of the main international tools;
  • to identify potential follow-up actions and proposals to influence policy and/or raise awareness on the topic of the training course.

A definition

Nowadays, within the context of new migration flows and routes, the issue of people fleeing from their home countries is particularly sensitive. Nevertheless, there are four main factors that make a movement of people recognized as a disaspora:

  • dispersal to two or more location;
  • relationship to an actual or imagined homeland;
  • self-awareness of the group’s identity;
  • multi-generational dimension.

The context

The training course will take palce within the framework of the 7th Mediterranean University on Youth and Global Citizenship (MedUni), and will be facilitated and coordinated by the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe in partnership with l’Observatoire National de la Jeunesse (ONJ) and other European and Southern Mediterranean stakeholders.

For further information on the training course, the application process and the actors involved, please refer to the following link. The deadline for this call is on 12 May 2019.
