On Wednesday 18 January, DG Intpa will hold a conference to present some concrete initiatives of youth engagement under the framework of the Youth Action Plan.

The Youth Action Plan

The Youth Action Plan in EU External Action (2022-2027) is a new policy framework that promotes the engagement of young people as strategic partners, supporting their empowerment and participation to contribute to sustainable development, equality and peace.

The Youth Action Plan in EU External Action is guided by three pillars of action that will help shape the EU’s partnership with young people in partner countries:

  1. partnership to engage: increasing young people’s voices in policy and decision-making;
  2. partnership to empower: fighting inequalities and providing young people with the skills and tools they need to thrive;
  3. partnership to connect: fostering opportunities for young people to network and exchange with their peers worldwide.

The Youth Action Plan is part of the EU institutions efforts to mark the European Year of Youth 2022 and its international dimension, shining a light on the important role of young people in building a better future – greener, more inclusive and digital.

Online Conference on Youth Participation

The Conference on Youth Participation will be informing about the new policy for promoting youth participation and empowerment in EU External Action.

When:  – Where: either online or in Brussels
Languages: English, French, Spanish

The conference will:

  • Present the Youth Action Plan in EU External Action: its purpose and principles, and the involvement of young people in its design.
  • Explain the different pillars for action Engage – Empower – Connect, with lines of actions and main initiatives.

GloRe is hosting a Technical Training to guide you through the process of activating your organisation’s account on the GloRe platform. The Training takes place online on the Zoom platform, on 14th April 2022.

GloRe Technical Training

The GloRe Technical Training is the first step to get an active account in the GloRe certification system. The training will provide newcomers with the competences to use the GloRe certification platform with their volunteers and to provide a clear understanding of rights, duties and opportunities related to the use of the certification system and to the membership in The GloRe Network.

According to that, this training addresses staff members whose organisations deal with European Solidarity Corps, international or local volunteers and willing to improve their learning awareness and to provide the volunteers with a Soft Skill Certificate off GloRe.

Overall Information

The Technical Training’s working language is English.
The event is hosted on Zoom on Tuesday 14th April 2022.

Upon participation, it is necessary to complete an e-learning module which requires 40-60 minutes to be done properly.

To apply for the Technical Training fill out the form by 8th April 2022. There is a total of 20 places available and the selection will happen on a first-come, first-served basis.

Technical Training Schedule

The Project – What Is GloRe

The GloRe Network is an umbrella organisation established in Milan, Italy in 2017. The network is active worldwide in 20 countries and has the main goal of fostering – at GLObal level – the REcognition of volunteering and non-formal learning, hence the name. GloRe is an open network of non-profit organisations, indeed any non-profit organisation working with young volunteers, either locally or internationally, can join in as long as it respects the quality standards for the volunteer’s support, the proper use of the certification platform and with active participation in the network.
The organisation oversees the membership and training process, monitors the proper use of the platform and promotes it.

The Certification Platform

It is a certification platform that allows both international and local volunteers to receive a certificate with recognition of the soft skills they acquired while volunteering.

The latest version of the platform, launched in March 2021, enables users to get a certificate either in English, Turkish, Italian, Spanish or Portuguese. Volunteers have the possibility to go through 26 e-learning modules that help them in assessing their level in each soft-skill (the ones certified by the platform) and in creating a short dossier about their learning. At the end of the process the host organisation will validate the certificate, taking responsibility for approving the information on it. The platform is complementary to other certifications as Youthpass and is meant to provide volunteers with a flexible and reliable certificate, while investing a few hours on it. The certificate is recognised internationally by the members of The GloRe Network international community and by several educational and public institutions.

The Centre for International Learning and Leadership (CILL) is an association of professionals from many different backgrounds and with complementary knowledge and expertise, who share a belief that “internationality” is the key to success in the modern world – whether for individuals, organisations or whole communities.

Since the UK left the European Union, there have been many changes in the way UK and European youngsters can benefit from the EU Programmes. The UK has indeed left the Erasmus+ Programme, and as a consequence, the European Solidarity Corps too. The CILL is running a series of events on the future of international projects and youth mobility, following the UK’s withdrawal from the Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps programmes, consequence of Brexit.

It is the third event taking place on March 4th. And the main topics will be:

  • Youth and youth worker mobility

As we approach January 27th 2021, the International Day of Holocaust Remembrance, it is important now, but also throughout the year, to find ways and to tools to spread the culture of peace. With the Remembrance Day, indeed, we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to counter antisemitism, racism, and other forms of intolerance that may lead to group-targeted violence.

unesco SAYS:

Member States share a collective responsibility for addressing the residual trauma, maintaining effective remembrance policies, caring for historic sites, and promoting education, documentation and research, seven decades after the genocide. his responsibility entails educating about the causes, consequences and dynamics of such crimes so as to strengthen the resilience of young people against ideologies of hatred. As genocide and atrocity crimes keep occurring across several regions, and as we are witnessing a global rise of anti-Semitism and hateful discourses, this has never been so relevant.

The Tool for Remembrance

A useful tool to address the culture of peace inside your organisation could be the “Remembrance for Peace” toolkit. It provides an overview over different approaches, non-formal education methods and practical examples for youth workers to work with young people on remembrance and reconciliation. And it is the outcome of SCI Germany‘s work, available on S.A.L.T.O. website. SCI believes that a culture of peace can only happen through a culture of remembrance, of critically looking back at injustices of the past and never repeating them again.

The tool “Remembrance for Peace” aims to provide innovative and interesting approaches to remembrance when working with young people. It therefore addresses youth workers all over Europe and beyond.

The tool goes through the following contents:

  • Ways of approaching Remembrance with young people;
  • Examples for Remembrance;
  • Non-Formal Education Methods for Remembrance;
  • Tips for Non-Formal Education.

This toolkit gives you inspiration for remembrance work with young people. It introduces approaches, methods and practical examples of how to do remembrance. The tool focuses especially on volunteering and non-formal education, but also on online
remembrance and gives valuable examples of know-how.

You can download the Toolkit here. It is freely available and in English.
