Future Entrepreneur is one of the results produced under the ENTREPRENEUR+ project. It supports the players learn about entrepreneurship in a fun and dynamic manner – extremely useful when working with younger audiences. It helps improve the vocabulary, and learn how to set up and run a business. Future Entrepreneur combines two types of board games: resource management & decision-making games.

In the beginning, each of the players randomly selects a business card. The business cards are grouped into three sectors: hospitality, services, and the food industry. Each business has some features listed on its respective card: the yearly revenue made, the risks it is prompted to, and how much a cost unit is. Throughout the game, the players will roll the dice and advance on the board. Similar to other popular games, they will either cash in or cash out some of their money, depending on the box they find themselves in. Otherwise, they will need to draw a card:

  • knowledge cards will test the players’ knowledge related to entrepreneurship, economics, or business administration,
  • surprise cards will affect the player only if their business is prompted to such a risk, as the one listed on their card,
  • development cards test the participants’ entrepreneurial abilities and add more interactivity to the game.

Because we aim to promote a healthy mindset, we introduced also the happiness points, one would receive after answering successfully a question on a knowledge card. The happiness points have a specific role in the game and are associated with several benefits the individual can enjoy in life.

The game can be played individually, or in pairs, with a maximum of 12 people, with a duration of 90-120 minutes. A facilitator is needed to support the participants’ learning process and ensure the rules are respected.

Future Entrepreneur is an open-source game, that one can print out and use for non-profit, educational purposes: in the classroom, in the training room, or in other circumstances. The kit contains also printing instructions. The game is available in 5 languages: English, German, Italian, Romanian, and Spanish.

You can access it for free, here

BOOST is a project co-funded by the Erasmus Plus programme, with the goal to foster global competence for advancing social inclusion and the career path of vulnerable women. For this to happen, it is pivotal to upskill professionals for global competence and to equip them with bespoke coaching tools.
BOOST

Why Global Competence?

According to the OECD PISA global competence’s framework (Exhibit 1), global competence is a multidimensional capacity. Globally competent individuals can:
  • Live harmoniously in multicultural communities
  • Thrive in a changing labour market
  • Use media platforms effectively and responsibly
  • Support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  • Pursuit lifelong learning and stay curious, open, and get active
Twenty-first century citizens live in an interconnected, diverse and rapidly changing world. Emerging economic, digital, cultural, demographic, environmental forces and global diseases (like COVID-19) are shaping everyone’s lives around the planet, and increasing intercultural encounters on a daily basis. To better cope with this complex environment, it is urgent to foster global competence and equip all, not only the adults of tomorrow, but also the adults of today, with the necessary know-how and tools to use global competence.

Why Vulnerable Women?

Across the world, women are more likely to face vulnerability than men. Often women are categorised as a “vulnerable group” with an emphasis on personal vulnerability. However, they are not inherently vulnerable, but different contexts place them in situations which create vulnerability. Then, multiple levels of discrimination are inherent.

The experience and potential vulnerabilities of women and men are significantly different. Migrant background and cultural differences often give women lower social status and livelihood opportunities, placing them in a position of dependency to men. Lack of educational opportunities make it more difficult for them to access labour market and career progression.

Participating organisations in BOOST project recognise this need, and despite being involved in various projects, both local and European, consider that it is essential to ensure continuity and resources to keep empowering these women, meeting their specific needs and offering them more and new resources to give them the opportunities for advancing their social inclusion and career path.

Visit the website for more information.
The education and training resources delivered by partners throughout these two years of implementation are available for free and in open access format via the official Open Education Resource Platform of the project.

The Erasmus+ project “#RepresentationMatters”, led by Associazione No Borders, focused on the topic of the (mis-)representation of minorities in media, at a national and EU level. The goal of the project was to dismantle certain representations, creating new positive narrations of the minorities.

The meeting involved young people from Bulgaria, Finland, Germany, Italy, Portugal and Romania.
First of all, participants analysed the topic of representation and misrepresentation, focusing on the themes of polarisation and hate speech towards minorities. Once the problem became clearer, we trained the participants on story-telling, helping them to develop a well-structured story, that became scripts for videos. Then, they started recording and editing the videos, with the support of experts.
This toolkit contains all the original methodologies created or adapted for the Erasmus+ youth exchange “#RepresentationMatters”, and that were successfully tested during the meeting. The methodologies focus on the topics of:

  • representation of the minorities,
  • polarisation,
  • storytelling,
  • video-making.

The Toolkit

This toolkit is thought as a collection of methodologies and ready-made activities to help youth workers and organisations in managing workshops and projects on these topics, both at a local and international level.

The Annual General Meeting of the Informal Network, that manages the Youthnetworks platform, returns also this year. Associazione Joint, based in Milan, is organising a meeting for the organisations of the network that, this year, takes place online on the Zoom platform.

Associazione Joint has been operating in the not-for-profit sector for more than 15 years now. Since then, it has been offering international mobility and learning opportunities in non-formal contexts to young people.

The Annual General Meeting of the Informal Network is on Wednesday 9th December 2020 and it covers the day from 10  a.m. to 4.30 p.m. (CET time) with a rich schedule. All the organisations partners of YouthNetworks are more than welcomed to participate. A broad participation is crucial as the meeting represents a fruitful opportunity to build together future projects and initiatives, also related to the Youthnetworks platform.

The schedule is:

  • 10 – 11 am / time to know each other;
  • 11.15 am – 12.30 pm / project results presentation;
  • 2.00 – 3.00 pm / future projects, evaluation and closing;
  • 3.00 – 4.30 pm / online conference on Solidarity Alliance.

The aim of presenting projects’ results and future projects is to let the organisations build up  possible partnerships among them.

Lastly, the Solidarity Alliance is a conference that this year focuses on solidarity among not-for-profit organisations all over the world.

If your organisation wants to take part in the meeting, write to youthnetworks@youthnetworks.net.
